Did everyone get the permit they wanted? I got the two that I needed. it's a good thing I got on right away because the three days prior and the two days after my permit are already booked and that's a one permit per day entry point. I got a permit for Sawbill and May and a permit forPine in June.

I got a Mudro Restricted permit for the weekend after Memorial Day right as permits opened. 11 mins after permits opened, almost all Mudro permits around Memorial Day and the weekend after were gone. Just insane.
I also snagged a permit for Kawishiwi Lake for my first solo trip, pretty excited about that. :)

The Day Motor permits were crazy. These need to be added to the cart individually, and each time you need to stipulate the pickup location and add your name, then go back and try to get more. Every time I landed back on the grid I could see the numbers dropping. By 920 when I made my last reservation all the basswood day motor permits were wiped out from fishing opener thru the end of the permit season.

I overslept and didn’t sign on until 9:04. Fortunately there was one Moose Overnight Motor left for my date. I selected it but backed out for a second to double check the date on the calendar. When I returned it was gone. All Moose OM were gone for the season. I stared at the rows of unhighlighted zeros. I felt dumb and dejected. I signed in and out of rec.gov a few times with the same result. Then on the third time at 9:25 a 1 appeared on my date and I got the permit!

I got the one I wanted. Now to try to nail down dates for a trip with my sons out of Sawbill and hope that there's a permit available once we decide on a date.
Just put one foot in front of the other; eventually you'll get there.

Yup. On at 9, permit reserved by 9:05. Cross Bay Lake in May for a week-long loop through the Frost and Louse Rivers and back north to Round Lake. Been through most of it on various trips in the past, but have wanted to to this specific trip for many years. Picked up one for EP14 in mid-May. I'd never reserved a permit this early but I figured it couldn't hurt. I logged on late as others have noted above (about 9:05) and there were still a lot of permits available. I was fairly surprised by that.
I'm sure that when I book the next one sometime later this year, there will be slim pickings for permits but that's okay. It should be interesting to see if traffic up north will be the same as last year.

I nabbed mine for Stuart River (1 per day) and LIS South (1 every other day) right away and I’m glad I did because 30 minutes later, many of the surrounding dates were gone. Whew, I got lucky. I didn’t book my September solo permit because I haven’t made a decision on an EP yet, but I think I’ll expedite the process with how quickly things were getting gobbled up this morning. Little Gabbro and Mudro were almost all gone for May and June at 10 am.

Anyone else feel that there was a whole lot more hype and advertising for this year's Reservation Day? It seems as if the hordes that visited last year are just as anxious to get out and do it again, and permit reservations are flying.
Just a quick look at the usual front-runners in hot permits, less than 2 hours into it:
Little Gabbro Lake (2 per day):
205 permits pulled, 94 days completely filled
Mudro Lake +Mudro Lake Restricted (8 per day, total):
607 permits pulled, 37 days completely filled

I got mine for EP47 in late June and can start the planning now.
There is a lot of uncertainty around Quetico access this year so I'm sure it's putting the pressure on day 1 of BWCA permits. Last year we were blissfully unaware of what was just around the corner and that a pandemic would close the Canadian border for the rest of the year.

I was lucky enough to snag a Little Gabbro permit this morning as I've never been to that particular EP and I'm looking to take my wife on an easy trip this spring. Also booked a solo trip for mid June.
I was amazed at how quickly permits are being reserved. By the time I got around to booking my June permit Mudro and Gabbro were largely reserved for most weekends.

Over 600 Mudro permits in 2 hours... that's insane. I'm glad I got mine right at 9, if I had been 5-10 mins late I wouldn't have gotten it. It's almost unfair how fast they go. I kinda wish there was a quota where, for some of the most coveted EPs (like Mudro, Nina Moose, E. Bearskin), you can only reserve them once every other year, or something. Of course you could get someone else in your group to get the permit, but I'm sure it would help at least a little bit. There have to be a decent number of people who hit the same EP around the same time every year.

Got my two :)
LIS South on Monday after Fishing Opener (solo)
John Lake on Labor Day with the family (with my siblings :)
Best of luck to you!
Condolences to those who didn't get their picks, but there's a lot of good stuff out there. In many ways, it's what you make of it.

I was on and ready at 9. Told the church staff to steer clear of my office at that moment. We are going in to Mudro hopefully all the way to Crooked on May 30. I'll try to get up later in the summer but I'm not sure when so we'll see what's available as the year goes on and my schedule becomes more clear. Good luck everyone.

I went in again to get a July permit for Little Indian Sioux N. The Thursday I wanted was booked. I took the next day, Friday. That's the nice thing about being retired- flexibility. In a normal year I'd have waited till later to book.

Day use motor permits for Fall Lake and Beyond went insanely fast. I've got a family vacation scheduled for the week of June 12th and was hoping to be able to get 6 day use permits for our Saturday to Saturday trip. I was on and ready to go right at 9:00AM and saw 62 available permits for the week of June 12th. At 9:05 AM every single one of those permits was gone!
Fortunately I was able to snag two permits for the week so we will get to hit Basswood at least twice for day trips.
I'm pretty sure it's not physically possible to reserve 6 permits in less than five minutes so planning day trips into Basswood for a week long vacation is not a good idea going forward...... unless you get five of your family members that can type quickly to each be logged in at exactly 9:00 AM and ready to strike!

Yeah it takes me just over a minute on average to pull a DM permit, select my cooperator for pickup, and check the couple boxes and add to cart. I got my first receipt at 9:09 for 7 permits. If you have to take time to enter alternate leader info that could definitely slow you down further.
I did the math on Moose/PP and Fall/beyond. Over 2,000 individual DM permits gone in under 20 minutes this morning.

I had done Mudro in early June 2018, and that permit was booked well after the first day. I knew Mudro was popular, but wow! I was driving on the interstate for work, so waited for an exit to pull over. At 9:08a, our target dates were wiped out. Got one for mid-June though. Will still be a great trip!

I forgot yesterday... :( Wanted a Mudro or Mudro restricted for 5/19. Looking now 24 hour s later and there are no permits for ether EP from 5/13 to 6/30! That's nuts. Looks like I need to find a less crowded EP this year and better figure out that family trip for late July ASAP!

Yes, I got them all. I was with students at 9am, but gave them an independent task and told them not to disturb me as I logged in just to get my Mudro permit in case those went fast...which they did. Once they left for recess, I logged in and got my other 3 (2 entry dates for Sawbill and 1 for Moose). Feels good!
