I have done this trip 3 times in the past 8 years and is by far one of my favorite trips.
The Throat river lies about 100 miles NE of Red Lake, Ontario and can only be accessed by floatplane. Loon Haunt Outposts does fly-in canoe trips in this area and supplies the canoes, 2 way radio, tents, tarps, and dropoff and pickup with a Cessna 185 on floats.
The fishing is unbelievable you can literally catch Hundreds of walleye a day and the largest Northern I have ever caught came from my first trip up there 47.5 inches 30+lbs.
There is plenty of wildlife and we have sighted woodland caribou, moose, bear and even a wolf on the shoreline.
The route we take is about 25 miles with 3 very short potages. The area offers primitive camping only and we have not seen anyone on the 3 trips we made. In 2001 he charged $375 2009 his rate is $675 PP in my opinion well worth it
