Some of you may remember the (2013?)Canoecopia presentation by Natalie Warren and Ann Raiho about their paddle adventure following Eric Sevareid's 1930 expedition to Hudson Bay in his book "Canoeing With The Cree". They were the first women to do this paddle and their fun and engaging talk was easily the hit of the expo in Madison that year.
Natalie just released a book about their adventures and it's a great read containing lots of the same humor, adventure and environmental notations they presented in their talk way back when. It's a great read and a great companion to Sevareid's book to see how things have changed (and not changed) in the time that has passed between the two journeys.
Highly recommend.
(By the way, for those that remember the talk, they had taken on a mix breed pup in Norway House and I'm happy to report that Myhan is still doing well and doing more adventures with Ann)

We all have to believe in something. I believe I'll go paddle.

Here’s a link to the hour-long virtual book launch from a couple nights ago. Fun and interesting. And a nice introduction by Ann Bancroft.
I couldn't get the link to imbed but you can cut and paste (or simple find it on youtube searching Hudson Bay Bound launch).

For fans of the book or if you want to hear more about the epic trip, Natalie will be on Almanac on Twin Cities PBS this Friday night talking about the book and trip. All MPTA stations carry Almanac live so you can watch it nearly anywhere in MN.
If you are elsewhere, you can stream it live at Almanac

Just a quick update in case anyone was planning to tune in tonight, the segment with Natalie has been shifted to NEXT Friday night (Mar 19th) on Almanac.
