Does anyone have an ice castle fish house that they also use in the summer for camping? If so, is it an ideal situation to replace tenting and obviously cheaper than getting an rv.

No personal experience with them, but am very interested after hunting this fall. I ended up pheasant hunting in SD in a pop up, I think the high temp during our trip was 17. The folks in the Ice Castle near us sure looked a whole lot more comfortable than we were. Then deer hunting there were 3 groups camped in them. Given it was a weird year weather wise and nighttime lows were in the 40's the pop up was fine but again those Ice Castles looked pretty darn nice! Added bonus in my book is that parking it in my driveway it could double as my office.

If you want some sticker shock check out the aluminum frame models from Yeti. No experience with ice houses but have read a lot of quality complaints on the Ice Castle brand specifically.

While no direct experience, the buddies that have them say the AC unit is a must for summer time use, which is really a cheap upgrade to get 4 seasons out of them.

Many hunting "camps" in northern MN are transitioning from canvas tents to drop downs when setting up on public lands.

My buddy at work has one. He uses it for ice fishing, hunting shack on a piece of property up north, and a camper sometimes. I think it’s a great idea for someone who does not have the room or cash to have both.

Mocha I kind of scorn them because the amount of fishing pressure created on our local lakes because of them is unreal. Nothing to see unlimited number pull into a small lake for the weekends or stay much of the winter. Yes the DNR is worried about too much fishing pressure on those lakes.

That said if I lived in the TC or southern Minnesota they are so nice to use as a winter cabin on a lake to fish and no extra cost. Ideal hunting cabin in the fall and can park almost anywhere. I would think of getting one.
Some weekends in the winter I see more ice castle types on the road going up to Leech,Red lake or lake of the woods or maybe a small lake than I will see boats heading north on a weekend.

What dealers and my own observation is that people in the 20-35 age plus range are buying these like never before buying recreation items. The question is where do they get all the money to buy the ice castle and 50,000 dollar pickup to pull it?

They took out student loans, canceled their classes, bought a truck and ice castle, and the tax payers get to pay for it!!!!!!!
