MNGreene: "Nice pic. I'll abstain from guessing. :) "
Ha! "Guess" away! You'll just be responsible for Lake 54. :) I had to dig for some lake pics where I had more than one shot.

For clarity, this is a portage landing, not a campsite.

Ok... hint photo #2. As you can see, it's not directly the lake proper. However, it's an extension of the lake. Heading south.

There's a lengthy portage that comes into the lake from the west. The first photo above is on the east end of this portage.
Part of the mess one traverses to get to Lake 53. The rest of the portage, although long, is a solid trail.

HowardSprague: "Lonely"
There you go, Howie! You got it. Congrats. The portage landing above is the Lonely side of the Yeh-to-Lonely portage, and the narrow area in the second photo is Lonely Creek.

Is that THE infamous Yeh portage? If so, it explains the expression of at least one of your fellow travelers in the first photo!
"It is hard to fail, but it is worse never to have tried to succeed.”

H & D... yes, that's my son, Kyle. And he didn't even carry the canoe!
The worst part of the Yeh-to-Lonely portage is the Yeh end. Swampy, walking on logs, just a tough couple hundred or so yards. After that, it's really just a regular portage trail that happens to be close to a mile long. There's a stream that crosses the trail near the middle, but nothing to get excited about. Still happy to see Lonely Lake and the nice landing area where we could catch our breath.
