I found this map case in the trash this morning! Just what I've been looking for!!
It weighs a ton. Now, how do I get the darn thing 1600 miles home??

Fedex, use the liftgate option. Now figure out how to pack it.

Deeply envious. I once obtained the discontinued topo map inventory of my employer and held onto it for years, hoping to score a case like yours. Eventually I had to abandon the dream ...

Lots of Forestry stations and BLM offices had cases like that to store their Topo maps in. I think I threw one out once not sure. Some are metal with sliding drawers.

From where to where? Time frame? Will be doing 35W Austin TX to Mpls in a couple weeks perhaps.

I'm on Don Pedro Island near Ft Myers, FL. It was more a rhetorical question, but hey, ya never know... destination would be Gladstone MI or anywhere near Green Bay.

Map case or not, wherever you are, that's where I want to be right now. That place looks amazing!

It would be a little cumbersome on portage trails, wouldn’t it? :)

Mechanized portages only for this map case!

Too bad you didn’t let me know 2 1/2 years ago when I was helping to clean out Uncle Phil’s (Wabakimi Project founder) basement. He had a large steel map case full of 40+ years of maps. I collected all the maps which went to the WP map maker but we couldn’t give the map case away. Somebody had a job on their hands getting that thing out of the basement.

More importantly, how are you going to strap it to your canoe? And who gets to portage it?

I would love that map case. A rubbermaid tote is my current storage
