I have a trip planned to Ogish in the first to second week of June. I am looking for some general tips for the lake - mostly for walleye and smallies. I also heard there are some lakers in there. Is it worth spending a day chasing them? Where will the be located in early June. Thanks for all the help.

Below is the link to our trip from a few years back. We went the 3rd week on June so you will likely have better fishing luck then we did. We did well on both Walleye and Smallmouth but not great. Was pretty windy though which affected out ability to fish some.

Mostly catching Shad rapalas for Smallies and jigging and slip bobber fishing with leeches for walleye.

4:55-13:30 in the video clips were all from Ogish. Our trip was the 3rd week of June. We caught Smallmouth along shore and timber mostly. Caught a few on slip bobbers and leeches. The first or 2nd week of June you should not have any trouble fishing the smallmouth bass anywhere along shore.

For Walleyes we caught a fair amount but most were small. Caught a couple over 20" but most were 12-15". Caught some trolling blue and white crankbaits. Most Walleye were caught on slip bobbers the couple of hours before dark near the narrows of the lake. You can probably decipher from the video clues. I do not mind being more specific if you would like.

Spice lake has nice smallies in it. Nowhere for them to hide in that lake.

Super Spooks and Whopper Ploppers for Smallies for top water action. Most years they should be off their beds and hungry by then.

If it's too windy for the main lake don't be afraid to head to Skindance or some of the other little dead ends like mentioned before.

just adding to fish fanatics comment on smallies in the wood. down timber can hold smallies all year , ONE MUST use stealth when targeting these areas , long accurate cast and i feel this is very important when that lure hits the water (floater) let that lure rest for awhile before retrieving , if there is a smally there it already knows that bait/lure is there. pic of my top 2 lures when working down timber. my crawdad fat rap has caught many many smallies in the wood , definitely my go to lure !

If you’re lucky enough to get the premier island site.
The Lake trout are due west of the island.
We’ve caught them there several times, I don’t have a depth finder but trolling deep divers resulted in Lakers. I even caught one from shore at that camp.
I’ve caught nice walleyes trolling the western basin and along the “gull rocks” mid-lake

The far west end of the lake, the bay that shoots north, had walleyes and SMB in it last year late may. SMB tight to shore, walleye shallow in 10 fow. Hitting rapalas.

This is where I fished for them as well. There are a couple of deep holes in that area of the lake. Trolling back and forth at depth should yield a few lakers.
