Not sure where it is and also a while back I transferred from a slide picture so the boulder could actually be on the other side if I transferred wrong?

I have no idea but it's a cool looking rock. Do you think this is looking East? The fog in the trees seems to have not burned off yet.

Yes it is and I asked about a year ago, such a landmark someone should know?

Not sure, but could it be that rock that sits on the southern shoreline of Quetico a little past the halfway mark from Beaverhouse to Conk?? Didn't recall that rock being that high though but good smallies around that rock.....

Never been to Quetico lake. It just got me frustrated of where I took the picture. Been in the Sarah-Joyce lake country thru Agnes Area.

I think it’s too close to shore to be the big rock on Frost. Unless the picture angle is throwing it off somehow.

And there’s a flatter island behind it, so definitely not Frost.

Never been n Frost or Ham

We camped on Shade on our 1977 Quetico trip. Because I have just written the trip report, I can say that with some confidence. It seems to me if there had been a rock like that in the lake I would have taken a picture. But then, how does one remember why one did things in 1977?

I will be interested if you get any information to answer your question.

If it is Shade it is just when you come from West lake and get into the big part of Shade

Like I said it was a old slide-I flipped the slide around and moved the boulder.

It kind of looks like a spot on Seagull where I was fishing last spring.

Ever been to Section 29 Lake just south of the BW and Isabella Lake?
Kinda looks like a rock on the west end.

I know that I suggested once it was Shade. I checked last time I went through- not Shade. Thinking it might be the entrance to Silence on the S-chain, but it's been a long time since I've been that way.

That is a possibility-we were there once? We came in thru Agnes.

Could it be in Boulder Bay? Just west where the outflow from the Dahlgren R goes into Boulder Bay from Stuart Lake? There's a good-sized boulder near the shoreline....

Ok. Make a list of where you HAVE been and we can work off that. :)

Or, are you sure you took the photo?

Yes trying to match up with other photos also-frustrating. I truely believe it is in Quetico in May. Around 30 years ago.

Yes I do have the slide and no writing except it says in May. Time to see if I can put it together with other slides again. No luckso far.

Someday when Quetico reopens we have discovered a new game. Not I left something behind. Which last I recall is on Ted.
The new game is Find Pinetree’s Rock. Somewhere in Quetico. Sounds like a challenge to me.

That is what I was thinking, I have a new objective in life to find my rock and get some of my memory back. The more I try to figure where it is the more confused I get.
Where is Ben or Stumpy I bet they might know?

Did you come down from Kawnipi south of Rose Island? I vaguely recall some larger rocks shortly before the first portage out of Kawnipi.

I did a couple of times, I have to get my trip dates down, trouble is my years are melting together, We went from Agnes-Kawnipi- Cairn-Sark-Keefer etc.

To be honest, swallow what pride I got left, I may have to widen the search to the BWCA, did both areas around than.
I got a lot of ground to cover the next few years to find my rock>

Ima rock it is.

Okay I backtracked to another trip that year into the Thomas area. Also
I had a Guide for summer Boy Scouts all summer look at it and identify it as the rock on Ima just before you go into Jordan portage.

Well I was off only one country and 25 miles.

Wow. Wish I had taken a photo when we came through there in 1974--it would have been a nice addition to my recent trip report. I do not remember the rock. But it was pouring rain the entire day and I didn't do photographs. I just paddled, portaged, and (probably) griped. I didn't even take a picture of Cattyman Falls!

Glad that you have your mystery solved.

Cool!! I'll be passing right by your neat rock on or about June 9 on an 18-night solo trip....have to try and get a pic on the same angle to compare photos... :-)

I am disappointed that you figured it out, missed a goal in Quetico next year.
Oddly, I expect to pass through Ima June 3-4 on a solo. I would have been shocked to see it but will now look for it.
Now you get to sleep at night!

Well a Eagle Scout that guided all summer for the Boy Scouts out of Moose lake. Now he better be right, scouts never lie.

That picture was taken on a 1988 spring trip up to Thomas and beyond.
