Hi everyone, Bill Ostrom here. It’s great to see all the buzz about our canoe packs. So I thought I’d clear up some of the speculation in this thread.

Three years ago I designed a basic barrel harness with Recreation Barrel Works (RBW). At that time we also gifted to RBW the design rights to all of our barrel accessories. I wanted canoeists to have access to this gear and RBW specialized in barrels. I have not been part of the design changes to the RBW harness since late 2019.

As for the new RBW canoe packs, we have heard from a lot of customers about the “similarities” to our packs. So I’d like to clarify. We have had no business connection with RBW since 2019.They are NOT a rebrand of Ostrom packs, as has been suggested.

My pack designs are very different from RBW. What makes us unique, compared to others, is the ability to custom fit our canoe packs and harness’.
