Hi, I'm trying to catch my first walleye and am wondering what works best. We will also be targeting bass and pike.

Gold has always been a money color for me up there with Walleye. Gold jig with any minnow shaped plastic.

I think that holds true for a lot of waters up north. I know it kills on Lake of the Woods in the winter ice fishing. I get a big NO from fish in southern MN with that color.

If leeches are available when you go in, take some. There are plenty of past topics on here on how to store/transport them and they're easy to take care of in that cooler weather/water.

But walleyes love leeches, and in the right spot you'll catch smallies too. Jig and leech or put one under a slip bobber at camp or anywhere.
