I'm going in for the opener with a small group of four or five on East Bearskin. 6 days. Can't wait! We're willing to travel some distance, but don't have to. We want some trout and some walleye. Any suggestions on locations or bait/fishing techniques in that corner of the BW? Thanks in advance!
Make sure to get an early start. That area east of the gunflint is can be very difficult to find an open campsite during busy times.
I would avoid dead end routes as well, such as Crystal. We paddled from East Bearskin all the way to very end of Crystal and found every site taken along the way. Only option was to back track.
It thins out a bit if you head up towards the border.

I've gone in on East Bearskin and camped on Alder one fall, but the fishing was turned off, and I didn't meet anyone who caught a fish that entire week! Hoping spring opener will change that...
