Give Midwest Mountaineering a call. They might have it on their magazine/book racks. They have a lot there and I thought I saw a copy last time I was in there in early March.

Still waiting for my issue to show up. I heard my wake bait article was published in the issue.
You should write an article or at least send them some pictures, you catch some real beasts.

Its in there. Great article as well. I remember back in high school we used to catch largemouth on a similar lure called the storm subwart. Very unique action.

Barnes and Noble in West Des Moines carried it a few years back. Not the one at Jordan Creek, the one off University.

plittle: "Just got the spring issue of BWJ. There is an article titled Mastering Canoe Country Lake Trout. Hands down the best piece of trophy lake trout literature I've read. The Klos clan has it figured out! Check it out."
Thanks plittle, Appreciate the compliment very much.
It has been quite a project since Stu approached us last summer to do an article till a month ago when the final draft was submitted. He wanted a comprehensive article that would appeal to the angler looking to catch their first lake trout all the way to the seasoned laker angler like yourself. I hope we accomplished that. I will say the article got a bit long but it had to cover a wide range of information. Terry and I have said it before in our articles but I want to mention it briefly again here. Trophy lake trout are a precious limited resource in the canoe country, even more so in the BWCA. Please do everything you can to complete a successful release so more anglers have the opportunity to experience these rare beauties.

thegildedgopher: "Does anyone know of a spot to buy BWJ in person in the twin cities area?"
All the major bookstores used to carry it, don't know if they do any more.
As mentioned, Midwest Mountaineering should have it.
Otherwise, the BWJ website.

Your welcome! It is unreal how close our strategy and experiances are with big lakers of canoe country. Very cool! Couldnt agree more on the importance of conservation. Luckly, as you very well know it takes ALOT of perseverance to hunt the big ones. Most people who are willing to put in that kind of work are usually conservation minded.

Just finished the article. My favorite that I can remember BWJ!
Even beyond the fishing, I really enjoyed the talk of camaraderie and group dynamics, . The evolution of your exploration into targeting trout, the evolution of your group and finally the interviews with everyone in your group. Hopefully 30-40 years from now my grand kids (don’t have any yet) will be reading articles from your grandkids talking about the core group starting the pursuit of trout.
Thanks for sharing with the rest of us!

You are welcome timatkn and thanks for the comments.
When writing an article like this it gets revised, tweaked and reread so many times that you lose a feel for how it will come across to the first time reader. I am glad that you enjoyed it. Especially happy that you liked the non "how to" portions.
Have to give credit to Stu for the format. I think it worked out well to keep the reader interested for a rather lengthy article.

Yup, it was published on the last two pages and I have some wake baits on the way to the house as I write this
