I am taking my three boys 9-12 into Perent Lake in June. Seemed like a good enough excuse to finally make the switch from internal frame packs to traditional canoe packs. I was given (lucky I know) a CCS food pack and bought two portage packs and a thwart bag from Dan. Not many in my world will understand the excitement of getting some new Cooke Custom Sewing gear. The craftsmanship is truly top notch. I'll give a year/trip report after the trip.

I understand, I really do.
And I agree, not many will understand the way you,,, and me do.
Quality gear in the wilderness makes an amazing experience just that much more amazing. You are a wise camper and you will pass that wisdom on to your young men.

I understand absolutely. Always good to get new gear! I just bought a Pioneer pack in that same color brown. I haven't used it yet but can already tell the quality is outstanding. Have a great trip!

My first thought, too. Rutabaga didn't have in stock the CCS goodies I was looking for, so no Canoecopia discount for me. Maybe a Midwest Mountaineering CCS sale?? I see Dan is rigging tarps in a couple of sessions for our amazement again...
