I know there have been discussions about both these things before, but thought I’d combine them into one and refresh into a new thread. I am 6’6” and 190lbs. I’ve never slept in a hammock before but would like to try. I really don’t enjoy sleeping on the ground in a tent anymore, don’t like crawling in and out, always waking up sore. I plan to try it out in my backyard, use it on a few state park camping trips this year, and also bring it to Sylvania WIlderness in June. I’ve done a lot of research, reading and youtube videos, but have only experienced friends smaller gathered end hammocks, nothing that would properly fit me. I am really interested in the Warbonnet Blackbird XLC, However I’m not sure I can justify the price yet, not knowing how much I will use it. Instead I am considering buying this OneWind 12’ hammock
OneWind 12’ hammock
Anyone have any thoughts on this particular choice? What other budget options are there for someone my size? Seems like you get a lot of bang for your buck with this, and it gets very good reviews on amazon.

Thanks everyone for your help!

My first hang was a $56 dble wide hammock bliss. After a couple seasons I upgraded to Warbonnet.
What will you use for insulation? One of my reasons for upgrading was the package options for underquilts and their attachment to the hammock.

MidwestFirecraft: "I have a Blackbird XLC with Yeti 0 degree underquilt and Superfly tarp I only used on two 5 day trips I would be willing to sell. Shoot me an e-mail if your interested. e-mail is in envelope in user name."\’
Thanks, but that would be out of my price range

I would recommend renting or borrowing a hammock to try before you invest. I have 2 "starter hammocks" I purchased before I decided gathered hammocks don't allow me to sleep well on my side are too narrow and I get shoulder squeeze. I ended up getting a bridge hammock that lets me sleep comfortably on my side and does not squeeze my shoulders. And, at 6'6", you may have difficulty finding a cheaper hammock that allows you to sleep at the correct angle.
