This is on one of 3 portage landings on this lake in the BWCA. October of 2005 trip.
Little guy in the red is now 26 and will be joining me on a fishing trip this may in the same general area as this picture.

Been on Hudson on an October trip before, just not this trip! :)

The lake in question is farther west.

I've been on Little Gabbro in October to but again not this trip.

I didn't even need to post another picture.

PineKnot gets it with Oyster.

Wow....Oyster was simply a wag of a lake west of Hudson with three portages....

And your young son who's now 26 is similar to mine two sons who started tripping with me when they were about 6 and are now 27 and 29....great times, huh?

Yes, they are! I have other kids that started young too besides him, but he is the one that still goes with me.

He's been to the Quetico, Poohbah when he was 12, did an 80 mile loop into Woodland Caribou when he was 11. At 13 he did the Cree in N Saskatewan with us. Even got to fly the turbo Otter. To say he was hooked young is an understatement.

Indeed. The water is crystal clear and the fight even better than their coloring!

If you have never done a northern river trip, the Waterfound and Cree are great starting places. You don't need outstanding whitewater skill, just a decent knowledge of the principals, and good judgement. You can do all the planning and flight reservations yourself so the cost is very manageable.

Can't wait to go again.

Oh and the walleys taste even better up there! ;)
