Two friends (a married couple) and I have a Moose Lake entry permit reserved for June 25. Our plan is to head to SAK, basecamp for seven days and explore and fish the area. I ran several options past them and they chose this route (we realize it will be crowded).

Both are experienced trippers. Del has been to the Q once with me, and this will be Sue's first time to the BW. They are in their early 60s and neither of them wanted a portage-heavy trip. I'm trying to cater the trip around them and hope they have the best possible trip. SAK does give us plenty of day trip options.

After Del and Sue's 7-day trip with me, they are leaving and I am continuing on solo for another week or so. My plan is to head for Ogishkemuncie and Kekekabic. They will head for Basswood's U.S. Point, then out through Wind to Moose. My main focus will be fishing.

Are any of you great members here willing to share any info on this route, such as favorite campsites, fishing hot spots, must see spots. You can email me if you'd like. I do have campsite ratings/descriptions, the MN DNR lake info, and I did search on this site and found some info, like mcsween's SAK map. I don't have much on Basswood's U.S. Point though. And I'm unfamiliar with most of this route.

Thank you.

If they don't want a portage heavy trip, they may not want to leave via Wind Lake. Those portages are not easy, especially the one out of Wind and into Moose. I would consider dropping a car at the Fall Lake entry point and having them paddle out via Pipestone...a few more portages but infinitely easier.

Sorry, can't help on the U.S. point front, haven't fished it. I have had luck on Kekekabic fishing those mid-lake Islands South of the portage from Pickel Lake. I only fished kekekabic for two days in June last year, but I caught a decent amount of eater-sized lake trout trolling gold/orange spoons behind a 2oz lead weight and 150-200' of line out (probably 30ish feet down) The campsite on the big Island to the south (1472) and that weird peninsula/sheltered bay (1424) are supposed to be pretty legendary.
