I just ordered a striker 4 and portable kit from Garmin. My plan is use a suction cup on the outside of my 1973 Grumman aluminum canoe for the transducer.
Has anyone used the suction cup? Any pros and cons to it vs trying some sort for Scotty arm rig? Any advice on where to place the suction cup?
I’ve never had much luck with the suction cup mount. It was always falling off. Then to reinstall it I needed to be on shore. I switched to the aluminum transom mount from Cabellas on mine. Just be sure to locate it in the horizontal position for accuracy.
I’ve used a suction cup for years. It works fine, although once in a while it does fall off. No problem I just pull out in and stick it back on the canoe.
