You read random reports of Lakers here and there on the US side but it seems like most of the good laker water is across the border in basswood.

All of the best places I know of are on the Canadian side. The vast majority of Basswood does not have lakers, at least not in any numbers. That being said, that early in the year they will roam shallow water more and you might run across some. Along the border around United States Point would probably be the best bet. Be sure not to wander over the border!

Drifted over into Canada plenty of times. Lotta good spots over there.
