Anyone have success with a keto fish crisp recipe for the backcountry? Thinking of a combo of almond flour, coconut flour, and spices.

not sure if you are going for a batter recipe or dusting. If batter, maybe spicing up birch benders pancake mix. if dusting for a pan fry, then your combo may work or just use some seasoned corn meal. Course all depending on how strict keto you are and if total or net carbs. Since our group this time are all experienced backpackers, I pushed for everyone do their own thing so I can do LCHF. Fish will be the exception that we will do as a group.

Have you tried blackening? You can get it pretty crispy but not a batter texture.

No I haven't. Do you just add a little oil, blacken, then add spices/lemon?

I usually use the butter flavored crisco because I use that when deep frying with batter. I just put the fillets in the oil and sprinkle blackening spices on. When I flip I do the same on the other side. Very easy. At home I would use butter.
