Hi friends,

I am looking at heading up for a quick solo 2-3 nighter in the BWCA next weekend (May 7-8-9) and wondering if anybody knows of a relatively easy lake to target crappie/perch/bluegill that time of year? (week before season opener) Or- know of any decent panfish in South/North Hegman, Nina Moose Lake, or Pine (off the Gunflint)? Hope the ice is off so I can get the canoe in! Thanks all

Hi again- also looking at Little Gabbro, Daniels, or John for panfish. Would also consider fishing for Northern or anything else I might be able eat ahead of season opener!

Any help would be truly appreciated! Thank you kindly

Get a MN fishing regulation booklet first.

You can't catch and keep northern prior to opener with the exception of a handful of lakes that border Canada.

Ah, I did not think the opener applied to Northern. I will be releasing anything I get lucky enough to catch. Thank you
