So, I’ve been looking online trying to find lead free sinkers/tackle for quite a while now. I had heard that online was the best bet. I was let down by several online retailers. Cabela’s had them on the website, I ordered them, then got a notification a week later that they don’t actually have them and they were canceling my order.

After striking out a few other places, I decided to try a tackle store I’ve never been to, Capra’s in Spring Lake Park/Blaine and bam, they had exactly what I was looking for. Not only that, but the lady there was extremely helpful and informative. It was so refreshing to find an awesome brick and mortar tackle store. I’ll be going back for all my tackle needs in the future.

Almost every fly fishing shop or website has non-lead split shot options now. It’s almost like trout fishermen are more concerned with our waters than regular fishermen. I say this because of all the work that Trout Unlimited and others do for streams and water.

The fly fishing industry has switched over from lead to tungsten and tin for weighted flies and sinkers years ago. You just don’t find much lead anymore in fly fishing.

I picked up a variety box of split shots with 4 different sizes, probably a total of 50 split shots for $6.

That seems very reasonable.
