I often leave really late or really early, depending on how you look at it, with the plan to arrive at the EP around first light.

I have found myself in the situation of searching for an open gas station along the north shore or in and around Grand Marais to grab some goodies or coffee in addition to refueling before I head up the gunflint.

Anyone know which stations are open?

There is a 24 hour holiday station store in Two Harbors. After that things thin out. The Holiday store in Grand Marias closes at 8pm based in the interweb.

My trip starts in Two Harbors. The 24 hour holiday in TH at the early morning hours, is a combination of guys like me headed north, lake superior fisherman headed out and the occasional drunk townie closing out the night with some gatorade and a chuckwagon sandwich.

I just confirmed by phone that the Marathon station in GM is open 5:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Disregard what you see here regarding hours:

My trips always start at the Holiday in Two Harbors also. I might be the guy buying coffee....or the chuckwagon sandwich..
. depending on many factors. But mostly just my last cup of coffee made by a machine for a while.
