Let's hear about some in-depth on the water reports for those of us that have trips coming in the next several weeks. Water temp? Depth of fish? Live bait or not? etc. Bottom type/ moving water etc,..

Had a friend go up to Horse Lake (and actually have cell service). Texted the bite was fairly good with both leeches and minnows. Looks like the walleyes are pretty shallow which isn't surprising.

Here in central Minnesota the water was 61 degrees this weekend. The walleye and pike were nowhere to be found. I did hook into a 6 pound (according to the fish chart) Largemouth Bass, 21 1/2” long. I also caught a six more with in the 3-5 pound range. I started out using stick baits, top water, minnows and had no luck. I finally figured I would try a wacky worm. I used a green/chartreuse laminate worn with a #1 extra wide gap Gamakatsu hook with a saddle O-ring. Depth of water I was in was 5 feet to 3 feet deep.

I caught 11 lakers, the biggest 27 inches. Lost about that many too.

Kept a 20 incher to eat. The rest were released.

Nicely done. What kind of depths and tactics worked for you?

Nice. Kinda makes me want to hit burntside when I'm in Ely this Sat-Tue.
Caught a boat load of eyes in my life.
Only 4 Lakers.
All nice.
And all by mistake.
What do you think about cloudy skies vs. Sunny.

Went out a couple days after opener caught a bunch of Rainbow trout, all fairly small. Looking forward to heading up to the Gunflint in the next week or so .

I agree. That would be a great trip for me. Any tips would be greatly appreciated...
