Surprisingly, one Quetico planning site shows the only campsite as unverified....but I assure you there is one campsite here that's pretty nice. This campsite photo is facing northwest. The second photo is another shot from the campsite looking southwest. I would consider Lake 116 to be smallish by Quetico standards.....

Funny thing about Lake 116.....it's water is quite clear, but aqua in color. Good fishing for bass and pike, a few walleye, but not deep enough for trout. There are two portages--the portage on the east side leads directly into the campsite. The portage on the west side exits to the lake that bears the same name as the portage from the east.

Most maps don't have a name for Lake 116, so you can win by either saying where this lake is located, or the lake from which you portage into Lake 116....

Oh, and forgot to mention that the campsite is only about a mile as the crow flies from the U.S. border....

Well, the last 3 guesses are either too far east or too far west....again, if you're on Lake 116 and you decide to depart, either portage will put you on the same lake....confusing, I know.... :-)

Pretty sunset looking west from the campsite.....

Spinning my wheels on this one, I'll guess Cone north of Elk....until I can come up with a better guess :)

We'll, I'm not familiar with middle 1 so I'll just throw out meadows. Not sure if it's a lake but there is a portage with that name

Here's an example that may help everyone out. If you look at the map of Toe Lake in the western BWCA, there is a northern portage and a southern portage. Both portages out of Toe lake will put you on Lac La Croix.

Lake 116 is like Toe Lake. You win if you're first to identify where Lake 116 is or which lake you'll end up on if you portage out of Lake 116....

A favorite lake for the last night in the Q. Unfortunately the camp was subject to quite a wind event and is strewn with large downed red-pines. Beautiful water. Great swimming rock at the camp.

Portages from Basswood to lake in peninsula east of Ranger Bay.

Sedges is correct. I was told many years ago by a fella at LaTourell's that this lake is named Dahlberg.....

@ Banksiana, I haven't been to the campsite for several years....when was the blowdown you mentioned in your post?

Seems like Banksiana had this one, but without a location. Would you like to post the next one?

Back to the BWCAW. About to exit this lake, looking west.

I think I camped post red pine blow down in 16 or 17. Again in 18. I don't have good photos of the camp, I think the trees may have destroyed the premier tent site. I didn't put in a "guess" on the name the lake because I spend most of my day without internet access.
