I spent a few nights in the woods this weekend by trout lake. The grouse drumming were going crazy! Sounded like the sturgis motorcycle rally! It was almost nonstop in the mornings. Way cool.

Anyone else have a similar experience this weekend?

i had that once with bull frogs, but it was a nascar race and they were running laps on the pond. way to loud to sleep.

Which Trout Lake? The really big one on the west end in St. Louis County (by Lake Vermillion), or the little one on the east end in Cook County (by the Brule River)?

We were up the Gunflint last Sept and I've never seen so many grouse. Everywhere we went.

New neighbor complained cause he was told it would be a quiet spot. The frogs are pretty loud these days. Haha! I thought the grouse have quieted some. Must be some late bloomers on Trout... haha! I’ve heard more people say how quiet the loons seem this year. I usually hear em about 3AM.

I had this experience at my cabin near Red Lake the weekend of the 7th-9th. Was some of the most Grouse activity I've heard in quite some time. Got me hot and bothered for the fall.

Two days ago I talked to a couple who camped about 2 miles from me on Knife Lake. They mentioned hearing a lot. Oddly, I heard none were I was camped.
