We went in to EP47 on May 14. Wet-footing the send off, the water in Poplar was cold enough to hurt my feet and ankles.
By May 18th, I was wading around my island campsite on a wind bound day..up to my beer gut...and didn't even think about the water temperature.
I think the lakes turned over and are starting to settle into the summer stratification. It is probably a side effect of the early ice out. It turned the fish off for a few days.
Things just seem all over the place. Fishing should be an adventure the next couple days. High of 82 tomorrow in Ely, t-storms overnight and high of 51 on Sunday. Then the pressure really starts of fall off as well.
My .02 is the eyes will need some stable weather for awhile. Early ice out followed by very cold conditions , than extremely warm and now talking frost/freeze by middle next week. It does look to do less pendulum swinging starting next week mid/late week. Stable pressures are also key and that has been lacking lately.
