We will be going in on EP 16 on 6-21 for a 5 night trip. We will be camping in southern Lac La Croix for a few nights. Any suggestions on where to camp would be greatly appreciated. We are thinking 2 or 3 nights on Lac La Croix, after that we are open to suggestions. We are entering and leaving at EP 16

One of our favorite campsites in all the BWCA.

The lone one on the island to the north is great. And the the island to north of that I stayed on the one facing warrior hill it was also very nice. Lot of room and big trees. You do see some traffic paddling by.

Yes, this campsite is phenomenal, too. Prone to being extremely windy being on the main part of the lake, but exceptional.

Depending on your group size, all 4 of these island sites are excellent. Nothing wrong with base camping from here for the whole 5 nights. Depending on when you want to pull out, you may want to move to Agnes or Nina Moose for the last night, but you run the risk of not being able to find a site on those very busy lakes.

Excellent day trips from Tiger Bay: pictographs, Warrior Hill (note that it's Canadian soil), across Iron Lake to Curtain Falls, etc.

Just finished trip via EP16 very similar to your plans. Night 1 on Agnes, nights 2-5 on LLC and last night on Nina Moose. Entered on Mar 23, exited on May 29. Very busy. Found most sites on Agnes occupied, particularly on our way back on Day 6. Almost all sites in and around Tiger Bay occupied during our stay but saw a few groups coming/going on days that had decent weather. When we arrived Nina Moose at 3:00 pm, I was shocked that every site was occupied except one, which we took....lucky us!!

So, in short, you may not find a "choice" open site if you're arriving into the area mid-afternoon. Hopefully you'll find good sites and have decent weather....

Pretty slow. High temps varied by 35+ degrees in one 24 hour period. Wind kept shifting all week....east, southeast, west, southwest, northwest, northeast, east, then southeast....go figure. Did catch several walleye one morning,, and a few pike second to last day....so at least had a couple fish dinners....

Agnes is always so packed, we never expect to find much there. Sometimes you get lucky.

Once over the last portage to LLC, there are a number of fine sites we've enjoyed.

We made it from the Warrior Hill site on LLC out to EP 16 in 5 hours, with headwinds starting on Nina Moose and a little traffic in both directions on the moose River. All parties going in were targeting Agnes. LLC had all the Tiger Bay sites occupied when we arrived on a Tues but we were luckily to get the Warrior Hill site. Definitely was still movement in/out daily, especially the 2 sites East of there near Bottle Portage.

Popular area, add more or longer portages and it weeds out the competition (Hustler and Ruby were empty)

There were two bear reports on Agnes last week, one party lost their food pack to a climbing bear. The other party came back to camp from a day trip with a bear sniffing around, and their dog scared it off. Sounds like two different bears, too. There was also a bear in camp on Crooked.
