Any thoughts on differences in lure colors, or other technique differences?

Another somewhat related question: Do the stained lakes support lake trout?

Nothing about bog stain really effects trout. It’s just that trout need deep cold water and the kind of lakes that hold that are generally going to be fairly clear. A few stained lakes with lake trout I can think of are Oyster, La Croix, and Little Sag IIRC. though they are only lightly stained.

With clear lakes you want to have low light conditions ie dusk, dawn, and cloudy days plus they are slow to warm up.

Stained lakes warm earlier and fish like walleyes are more likely active during the day. Plus they are probably shallower.

When I fish tannin stained waters I like to use brighter colors like orange, and chartreuse.
