I hate them.

I was referred to this site. Quite nice! I plan on rafting or canoe trip in the future.
But for now, I am here for shoe info!
Can't stand them.
I need a minimalist shoe that is light and won't make my feet hot (if my feet are hot, I get hot and sick to my stomach), achy or sweaty. The closest I have come to this are xero shoes. But they don't have the tread I need for a hike.

Thank You!

I’ve liked the Solomon Techamphibians.

Further info is needed. What kind of trip are planning on doing? A boundary waters type where you are constantly getting in and out of the canoe and hiking portage trails or a river rafting trip where you rarely get out of the raft. If the former a quality low top hiker from Merrell or Keen paired with some wool socks from Darn Tough. Then just wet foot it. Your feet wont get hot and its quite comfortable. I've had my eye on the Merrell Moab Edge 2. Also if you like Xero shores, maybe the terraflex.
If the latter, any water sandel shoe will fit the bill. Moab edge 2

Astral Trail Runners are your answer. Lightweight and you feel like you're walking on a cloud. They have an excellent tread that will fit your stated needs. I have a couple pair and love them . My Astral 4.0 is especially good. As far as canoe country, they carry a mesh water shoe - Astral TR1.

Always liked these, especially the previous now discontinued version.

If you are looking for a hiking shoe check this site: CleverHiker. Portaging shoe is a different animal.

Look at Merrill Moab water shoes. Plenty of support and they have drain holes so if wet they will dry fast.

Moabs are very comfortable and easily drain, but the ones I have - Merrell Moab 2 Vent Mid - absorb water and keep it for quite a while even after draining. They weight dry less than 2.5lbs, but wet they are 3.3.

I wear Astral Loyaks for literally everything. Very minimal, excellent grip and good construction (I've been wearing them daily on trips, at home, at work...). If you feel you need a more aggressive tread, Astral's TR1 Mesh is also nice, but not as natural or minimalistic.

Another brand you should look at is Vivobarefoot--not just their main website for current models, but also Revivo.com for some of their past models that are still available in limited supply.

Hows the width on those? Do then run wide?

I have wide feet. I have Astral Loyaks and Astral TR1s. They do not make wide sizes and, as such, are not technically wide enough for me. However, no one makes wide enough shoes for naturally shaped, wider feet, and in a world of shoes too narrow for me, my Loyaks are some of the least offensive. The TR1s are also relatively comfortable but have a slightly narrower toe box than the Loyaks. Compared to most of the foot-deforming torture chambers most people wear, Astrals are much better.

I picked up a pair of the old model for $30 on amazon one of my best purchases ever. Love those shoes, dry fast comfortable and easy to get on and off without the fear of losing them in the muck.
