Hello all, will be heading in end of July at Bower Trout Lake(EP43) and planning on base camping on Swan. Any info on Walleyes/Smallies on Swan that time of year, or the lakes leading up to Swan would be much appreciated. Also any info on the campsites on Swan? Is it worth making a trek to Lac Lake near Swan to fish for a day?

Thanks in advance!

I'm heading to Swan via EP43 on Friday. I can report back when I'm back in service. I hear lac lake is full of Northerns.

Swan was okay, a few Walleye and a good many smallmouth but no size. The second lake in the chain however ( I lost the name of it in my head) produced some pretty good size smallmouth. One was over 6lbs for sure. Caught him on the left side of the lake from the portage from Bower trout about halfway to the campsite/portage to the next lake. I dunno if it would be worth staying on this lake for a day but they were strong fish. We moved on to swan and then Vernon. Caught some nice Walleye on Vernon. If you are after walleye I suggest the extra portage to Vernon. Caught them on a Lindy rig with leeches. I'm guessing they were 20 feet deep. Caught them all coming up humps toward shore. Hope this helps.

thanks Jaroberts28 for your feedback, much appreciated! Wish i could have a sidebar conversation with you on here but not sure how to do that? How was the portage from Swan to Vernon?

Thank you,

There are at least 2 ways to have a "sidebar conversation".
1. At least one of you has to edit your profile to un-hide your email addresses. An envelope will then appear under your user name on your posts. Clicking on the envelope will start an email.
2. You could set a time to meet in the chat room (see the Chat Rooms link at the top of each BWCA.com web page. Of course, you'll need to agree to do this either by email or through further conversation on this thread.
