Is the Royal River bex North Fowl Lake and John Lake navigable in low water conditions? (s/as drought year/mid August)?

Here are some pics from Royal River adjacent to the portage btwn Royal Lake and North Fowl taken June 23 of this year, in my experience this is pretty typical for summer conditions. Take the portage it's not bad at all.

Or are you talking about the stretch between John and Royal Lake? That should be navigable. Then Royal Lake often fills up with wild rice and emergent veg which can be a challenge.

We have a trip in August from MacFarland to North Fowl to Moose to Mountain. New route for us. Anyone have experience with the rivers/portages along that route during low water periods? Interesting times.
