The Forest Service has put a fire ban in effect for the BWCA. You will need to use fuel stoves for cooking until the fire ban is lifted. With no rain in the 10 day forecast, this will likely be in place for a while. Let's hope the weather forecasts change.
Due to dry conditions, fire activity, and limited resources, the Superior National Forest has prohibited campfires on Superior National Forest. Campfires are allowed in approved fire structures that have been installed an maintained by the Forest Service, in the following areas on the Superior National Forest as shown in exhibit A. Please see fire restrictions order and exhibit A for more information: https://www.fs.usda.gov/detailfull/superior/alerts-notices/?cid=fsm91_050579&width=full

I wonder how the dry conditions affects the mosquito population. Whilst the humidity remains low, the lakes do abide.
I ask as I am bringing my partner, a bite bait date, for her first trip beginning 26 July. It will be as it will be, but any bug reports, or bug prognosis?
Thanks in advance.

There is a bug report thread pinned to the top of this forum. In general, the mosquitoes have been pretty light except at dusk and on some wetter portages (and on any damp days). But the various flies have been pretty vicious in my experience.
Have a great trip!
