Anyone have a brand they use that tastes closer to butter than others? I’ve found the taste varies…it is never bad just different and sometimes alters the taste in a way I didn’t want.

Save money and clarify your own butter. Pick whatever brand (doesn't save money but I like the Kelly Gold pastured Irish butter). Doesn't take much effort.

It only takes about 20 minutes to make. I just use Land O lakes unsalted. Great for frying fish or popping popcorn. I pour mine through a strainer into a small nalgene container and it’s ready to go.

I like Trader Joe's. Perfect size in a plastic jar. $3.50-4.00 for 8 ounces. Close to the price of a pound of butter. How much ghee in a pound?

Best I've found is Organic Valley. There's a lot of variation in store-bought ghee...some are simply not good.

So easy to make. Just don't get sidetracked cuz it'll 'darken' if left simmering too long. If you don't have a fine-mesh strainer place a cone coffee filter inside the standard mesh.
On the other hand, the convenience of store-bought is it may already be in a plastic container.
My local Walmart discontinued the brand I used to buy with an inferior product. Went back to making my own. I use unsalted Horizon organic butter. Kelly Gold is good stuff too.

ALDI has been carrying Ghee for a couple of years now. I think a 16oz jar was ~ $5. Tasted good.
