My friends and I who used to go up all the time Were looking to bring our boys up and do a lot of serious fishing and rent a cabin. We’d prefer to be on the gunflint but we’re not solid with that. We just want to bring the boys up where we went in our youth..any thoughts that would be appreciated we’re gonna try to make reservations immediately for next year.

I’ve never rented a cabin but from what I’ve seen, these folks meet your requirements to a T:

Seagull Outfitters

Rockwood also has cabins for rent.

Highly recommended: Rockwood Lodge, Clearwater Lodge (either cabins, or even the suites in the historic lodge), Trail Center. We have stayed at cabins in all of these and were more than pleased.

I love cabin 2 or 4 at Rockwood, as the kids can be in the loft and the grownups can sleep downstairs. But I don’t know how many total people you will have.

There are other fine places with cabins on the Gunflint. I have heard good things about Hungry Jack and Norwester, too.

Rented a cabin on Flour Lake in 2016 from Golden Eagle Lodge. Awesome smallmouth fishing (special regs) and pretty much had the lake to ourselves, this was early June around Father's Day. Easy access to Moon Lake, East Bearskin, Alder and others. Also access to a small lake full of northern, name escapes me, but they have a rowboat stashed there. Was surprised on how not busy it was.
