Family of 4 with two teen boys.
We had a Moose 16 permit for Aug 3rd.
Was able to get a back up for Farm 31 for the same day.
Questions:
1) Any current photos or reports on smoke smell/haze?
2) Any tips on Farm 31? I haven’t done ANY research on this new location….

Current Fire Map

That's a start. Get in touch with Moose Track Outfitters. They're located near that EP and can give you an update on the area conditions.

My adult daughter and I just got back yesterday, our EP was Brule and we went as West as Cherokee. There was no wind all week (until we had to cross Brule, then we had a strong headwind, naturally.) The sky was milky white, and there were days where it smelled strongly of smoke and the air was hazy. I really struggled to breath on portages, but that might just be the effect of being out of shape because of Covid and working from home rather than doing physical work for the last year and a half. My daughter and I both noticed smokey tastes on our lips, and coughed a lot. If anyone in your party has asthma I would consider not going. I'll probably cancel my August trip with my husband unless something changes.
