Maybe this is a dumb question, but from our campsite, should I just toss out bobbers with leeches and then throw a spoon for bass/pike? Wondering if there is something else I haven’t thought of. I never do well in the BWCA, which drives me nuts because I have had success fishing all over the world. I don’t know the lakes or depths and am lucky to catch a few bass.

Both methods are fine if enough licensed individuals are with you; it's one line per person. You may get the occasional hangup in the rocks that might need to be retrieved by canoe.

Hopefully you're at a campsite that drops off a little bit especially, come mid-summer. Slip bobbers are great, but if you have wind and waves, it will be a lot of recasting. Personally, I prefer a slip sinker set up with a crawler (little bit of air) or some dead bait. I bring in whole frozen suckers.

This is a good idea. Hadn’t thought of this. Looks like I need to snag some floating jigs!

My camp fishing method is to set up my tent first, then throw out a slip bobber with a leech right off the bottom, then take care of the rest of the camp chores while keeping an eye my bobber. A lot of times, I have trouble getting camp chores done and have to pull in my rig so I’m not interrupted.

I set up the tent in case it rains. If it’s raining when I get to camp, I fish until it quits, then put up my tent.

If you would like to read my article - Grand Slam Lures - just send me an email - queticomike@yahoo.com.

If it's windy and there are rollers, you can just use a tube bait or fake leech on a jig head under a slip float. The waves will give the lure some action.

Lighted slip bobber under a night crawler or leech. You can catch walleye this way.
