headed in from Crain Lake in mid-sept... Not very confident that that can happen given the closures.

thinking of grabbing a trout lake entry.

Fishing is the main focus.... any downside to going into trout?

I've not been to trout but recently read some trip reports when considering it as an alternative EP. Motorized traffic doesn't slow down on Vermillion so get an early start--also to avoid the winds that began later in the mornings/day.
Good Luck. Hope someone else chimes in with current info.

I believe lake vermilion has spinet water fleas. Please make sure everything has been dried off after leaving the lake.

If you want some separation from the motor boats, portage into Pine Lake from Trout Lake.
