Want to relate a good experience with a gear manufacturer.
About 10 years ago I bought a Kelty 4 person tent. It gets used probably 10 nights a year and is in great shape. Sold with a lifetime warranty.
This year went on our trip and the fly completely failed -- there was a glued section of window that clearly should have had sewing in it, but didn't. The glue finally went bad after 10 years. Used some Pro Gaff to fix it up, it had a very minor impact on our trip.
I was able to rustle up the receipt from REI. Sent an email to them three weeks ago; fast forward to yesterday, when the repaired fly showed up on our doorstep with a friendly note.

cyclones30: "You still knew where a tent receipt was from 10 years ago?? Dang "
I keep it pinned to the tent.
More seriously, I thought I wouldn't find it. Tried searching my email, and lo and behold found the receipt from REI Outlet there.

Kelty once sent me two tents accidentally---a 2P and a 3P Trail Ridge. One was a duplicate order and the other was just a random error. When I called to tell them what happened, they told me to keep the tents! I still love those tents, and the 4P Trail Ridge.

Wow! Scoreboard!
