Camp Kitchen Contest Photo
Beach campsite on the North End of Trout Lake this past month. Lots of wind at our campsite-and everywhere else! We had the old and the new. An old two burner Coleman Stove with propane and the new, two SnoPeak stoves with isobutane.

As much fun to make, as it is to eat. On Jasper just prior to the closure in August.

Our Kitchen set-up is pretty small: a one-burner Trangia Stove (burns denatured alcohol), and one-pot meals primarily. Gneiss Lake.

This was a first time delicacy for our August 2020 trip to Fourtown Lake. Eight slotted home made cedar plank boards fit perfectly on the fire grate. With an expert fire master tending the coals (a water spray bottle nearby - just in case), the soaked planks charred and smoked to cook the salmon to perfection. What a treat! Unfortunately we couldn’t repeat in 2021 with the fire ban, but hope to put this back on the menu for next years trip.

We’ve done this every year except 2021 because of the fire ban.

We had paddled from Insula to Lake Three and caught a walleye along the the way. Everyone got out their camp stoves and chipped in cooking the fish, fry bread and hash browns for supper that night.

This is how we cook 90% of what we eat up there. Boiling water added to camp meals. We also bring a non stick fry pan for a few fresh breakfasts and fish fries. Works for us.
