I’ve not fished this lake so no fishing location from me. I would suggest trolling or casting a purpledescent Rapala Tail Dancer. Purple is the last color in the light spectrum to disappear so they will see it deeper than a red or yellow lure. Rig it up with a weight to get it at least 20-30 feet down.

With 100-150 feet of line out (depending on line diameter and troll speed), you should not need any extra weight to get the two largest sizes of Taildancers down to 20 and 30 feet, respectively. Another good color for us is blue flash or blue chrome. Those two colors do a pretty good job imitating Cisco and smelt.
I’d also be looking at some spoons— probably little Cleo, crocodile spoon, Dr Spoon. You can cast those things a mile, drift with them, jig them, or troll them with some weights to get deeper.
My 2 most productive lake trout trolling presentations the past two seasons have been a silver and blue croc spoon running at 25 feet (leadcore) and a blue chrome scatter rap tail dancer running at 20 feet (flat line).
I’ve never fished snowbank so can’t give any specific tips there. Good luck!

Thanks to all for your advice.
The week on Snowbank was great.
The fishing was very slow.
Big thunder storm, a cold rain off and on all week, and 3 to 4' white caps kept us at camp most of the week.
But, that is the BWCA and part of the adventure!
I will never complain about any trip!!!

I've read a lot of endorsements for Tail Dancer in purple. I guess I'll have to add another crankbait to the box!
I'll have a couple spoons for vertical jigging, including blue and silver.
