So back in November of 2020 when I had covid my lovely state (Indiana) contacted me and wanted to do a contact tracing interview. They asked many questions an hours worth.

Fast forward to this week and I receive a letter in the mail stating that the states contact tracing department had been hacked and all my personal information has been stolen.

So now I have to go thru the process of making sure that no one tries to open an account or steal my SS or any other nefarious deed using my information.

Man am I pissed!!!

One more way COVID can screw up our existence. I feel for you, glad I have not contracted COVID, since I am in Indiana as well!

Why would they need to collect and store your social security number for contact tracing?

Just venting.

Update...I called the number that was provided in the letter i received. Spoke to some lady who works for a company that the state hired to handle this and she basically read the exact same thing as the letter which I received. At the end of the conversation she asked for my information. To which I said, nope not gonna happen. Her response was, and I quote, "That's ok, it's probably out there already anyway."

Gotta love Indiana.

I received the same letter. Name, address, email address, gender, ethnicity, race and date of birth were potentially exposed but thankfully, Social Security Number was not involved.
