“ The Superior National Forest will lift its remaining closures along upper Gunflint Trail on Wednesday, fully reopening the area to visitors.

“The reopening Wednesday includes Blankenburg Boat Launch, Trails End Campground, Iron Lake Campground and associated facilities, according to a news release from the Forest Service.

“ The closure area around the John Ek and Whelp fires will remain in effect at least through Sept. 30, which is the end of the BWCAW's 2021 quota permit season.

"’This is to ensure public safety should the fire become active again,’ the release said.”
