Earlier this month on Horseshoe Lake, my group had a family of moose crash through camp at 1:00am. Cow, calf, and bull bedded down behind the latrine and we got some pretty good moose watching in the next morning. They slowly moved towards camp, and by the time we were ready to leave, they had claimed the trail to the latrine. We didn't get great pics, but they aren't really the sort of animal you walk up to and ask for a picture.

I'm guessing that's site 639. We visited that site while we stayed on Horseshoe at 672. We saw a moose swim across the bay at that site. Your site looked like it was surrounded by some good moose habitat with a bit of swampy, lowland areas around it, if I remember correctly. That lake is fairly good area for viewing these animals. They tend to turn up there regularly.

I made my way through Horseshoe (+Brewis, Harbor, North Wilder) on Friday and ended up following a moose trail along some of the creek from North Wilder up to Hudson. Here's what it looked like at the end of the Harbor-North Wilder portage with still a ways to go.
based on the prints in the mud from the heavy rain the last night that were larger than my hand, this was no deer. I'm still not certain if I'm happy I didn't come up behind one or if I could have gotten some good pics. But I'll be content with just admiring your awesome photos.
