What has been your preferred depth the last week or so?

Went on two trips in the last 3 weeks. Sept 27-Oct 1st they were in 20-25', Oct 6-10th they were in 20-25'. Surface temps were 62-64 both weeks...that has to have dropped since then, we have had some cold nights and cool days. I am guessing 57ish degrees on most bodies of water.

I would recommend starting deep and working shallow if you can't find them

We went Oct 1-4th to Basswood and the walleyes were around 25 ft. deep off of structure. I believe the water temps were mid 60's.

Look for the fish at depths of 12 to 20 feet during this period, but they might be much deeper. I've found Walleyes in water more than 30 feet deep, and sauger deeper yet. My favorite technique in the early pre-spawn period is vertical jigging.
