Hey all,
Full disclosure, I work for the company in Burnsville (Mackin) that is providing the collection of eBooks to residents of MN. I am the sales consultant. That said, we are not paid by the number of "reads" or "clicks". What follows is something I just thought this community might be interested in. If someone feels this post commercialized, I will freely take it down. That is not my intent!
Long story made short - every resident in MN has free access to a collection of Ebooks that are purchased by Minitex at the U of M Twin Cities. These eBooks can be used by an unlimited number of simultaneous users (meaning you don't have to wait your turn for a checkout). Mackin is based in Burnsville, and we recently received the contract to host these titles as part of a public bid process. In reviewing the titles we are now hosting, I noticed that there is a book about the BWCA that people here might be interested in. It is titled " A Boundary Waters history : canoeing across time" by Stephen Wilbers. It was published in 2013.
If you are interested in reading the BWCA book, here is
a link to the book. If you like to read and are curious about the rest of the collection,
the entire EbooksMN collection is available here. When you go to the links, you will be prompted to allow your device to verify your location or to provide a valid MN library card number. This is because we are only licensed to provide the eBooks freely to people within Minnesota's boundaries or who are residents as established by a public library. Once logged in with your location or library card, you may self-create a personal registration that can be used to remember where you are in the books automatically and use our app to download for offline reading. You don't have to do this part, you can just choose to read online if you prefer.
I hope this all makes sense. I haven't actually had a chance to read the BWCA book myself yet, but maybe some of you have more time on your hands than I currently do. :)
If you have trouble with any of this, feel free to post here and I'll do my best to help.
