Does anyone know if a Gransfors wildlife hatchet handle will fit in the CCS Bushcrafter axe sleeve? I have a couple hatchets, but was looking at getting a Gransfors. However, the handle end seems similar to my Gerber which does not fit in the sleeve.

Hopefully someone here has both and can give you a better answer, it if not I suggest calling Midwest Mountaineering and ask for their camping department. They carry both CCS and GB and may be able to tell you in just a minutes or so. They may not carry the Wildlife hatchet though, but they may have something similar - maybe the small forest axe?

I do not have a Wildlife Hatchet, but I do have the Gransfors Bruk Small Forest Axe and a CCS Bushcrafter Pack. The axe does fit in the sleve on the bushcrafter pack, but it is a tight fit, which is probably good.

Does this help? My Wildlife Hatchet shown on a 1 inch grid. Looks like the pocket would have to be at least 2.5"x1.25" inside diameter.

@schweady, Thank you for measuring that, i do not think it will fit in the bushcrafter sleeve, i think anything even near 2" would be close, i did just try a standard hammer handle at 1.5" and there wasn't much to spare. Also knowing that the small Forest Axe fits is good to know as well.

You could always go with the Outdoor axe instead. Looks like a thinner handle in photos, and it’s a bit lighter.

Here is a picture of my wildlife hatchet and a cook custom sewing pack. A wildlife hatchet is about 18 years old so I don't know if they've changed the handle design since
then. I hope the picture helps you make a decision

Not sure where you are located campnfish, if you are near to the world headquarters in Lino Lakes MN stop on by and you can try it out if you bring your Gransfors wildlife hatchet. I have made a larger sleeve for one customer who had a larger handle/ knob at the end of the handle. With the handle on a flat surface, what is the minimum horizontal dimension to have the width sewn to the pack, and then with a paper or cloth what is the minimum perimeter from sewn position to sewn position required? using a paper or cloth will simulate the space required to the axe handle through.

Thank you Dan, however its the other way around, i already own your bushcrafter pack. And based on tony and schweadys hatchet photos they must have changed the wildlife handle to be larger at the end, so i dont think it will fit. Not a big deal i can go another route with different axe, plenty others out there.

campnfish: "...they must have changed the wildlife handle to be larger at the end..."

I just finally found one for a birthday present for my SIL (it came over in 3 days from Scotland!), and the handle is identical to the one I've had for at least 10 years.
