Stumbled across this on Amazon and it seems pretty cool. Immediately thought of the BWCA.com community and that someone might enjoy something like this.

If you have a favorite lake or area in the BWCA or Quetico, they might be able to do it for you providing you can give them GPS coordinates. Sounds like they can also put marks and descriptions for specific places like maybe a big fish caught, bear incident or sighting, scenic feature, etc.

I am giving it some thought myself. I have no interest in this product whatsoever but thought it might look good hanging somewhere in my office/den. I'm thinking Insula or Little Sag, for example, would look pretty cool.

I have a map of the Great Lakes made the same way. It was considerably more expensive, but it was a nice gift.

Not that there’s anything wrong with the Amazon one… but if your considering buying- Etsy is the best place I found for these. There’s several people on Etsy doing these with lasercut and all have their own unique style/ finish. and you can even find some with many layers for depths.

I know this because I bought one last year for my wife for Xmas and did a lot of homework!

We added the text we wanted and a few markers as well.

Horn dog maps is based in MN and I've gotten one of his. Does great work and will customize w/ logos and names and whatever else you want on it. If we're talking the wooden depth/contour maps
