This canoe reminds me a lot of my border collie, which makes me sad to let it go: it's fast, fun, and a little unpredictable. Unfortunately, I have five other canoes in the garage (I know, I've got a problem!). I don't need multiple solo canoes, so I've gotta let this one go.

As you can see from the images, it's well used with a lot of scratches and gouges. It doesn't leak. One of the seat supports is detached from the hull and needs to be re-epoxied. The specs say it weighs 42# but I'd guess it's a bit heavier than that. Despite the obvious cosmetic flaws, I can't say enough good things about this canoe. It's fast, you can adjust the seat height to choose from three different levels of stability (from rock solid but basically sitting on the floor to lively, IMO), and it has enough room for solo tripping. I read somewhere that this canoe had the nickname the "Summerswim," but I never felt it was too tippy for a canoe that's 22" at the gunwales.

Here's what Sawyer said about the Summersong...

"The Summersong was designed by David Yost as a performance touring solo for paddlers in the 135-175 pound range, and their gear. It performs with authority as a tourer and tripper with a burden up to 225 pounds and it can be used as a day cruiser by larger paddlers.

The Summersong can best be described as the gentlest of rockets. It runs at hull speed with astonishing ease, and runs sinuous, constricted waterways with a grace and fluidity that must be experienced to be believed. Further, this LER design by David Yost is an eminently seaworthy boat; dry, predictable and beautifully manageable in heavy seas. The 'Song incorporates all the well-proven Yost innovations: flare fore and aft, Yost Bubble amidships, and sweet transition lines for stability in a leaning turn."

Here are the specs on it:
Length: 15'4"
Maximum beam at 4-inch waterline: 26.5"
Maximum beam at rails: 22"
Bow depth: 16"
Midships depth: 12"
Stern depth: 14"
Weight: 42 lb

$500 firm, and I'm located in southwestern Wisconsin.

“My first canoe is long gone but it’s been replaced. Replaced not by one canoe but seventeen. I could use a couple more but one has to make due.” - Bill Mason

Cool canoe. I am also having to consciously limit myself. Haha

Ha love that quote!

This one’s a classic, but I’ve got a solo I’m about 90% done building that I’ll be paddling instead, for better or worse.

In the meantime I’m upgrading my winter camping equipment. Too many outdoor sports and not enough storage space and money is my problem.

Price dropped to $400.

A beat up old beauty but entirely paddleable and no leaks.

Hey there! Old thread, but wondering if this is still available?

Here's a thought for you - since you're building them, you can probably fix that seat support more easily than a lot of potential buyers who may be hesitating for that reason. That should increase it's marketability substantially.
