Have any of you fished Jordan Lake with a fishfinder in the past couple years? I see trip reports of not catching much on Jordan but it looks like it should have walleyes and northern pike in numbers. My wife and I are planning a later July trip to use Jordan as a base camp to fish and relax with possible day trips into Ima if the weather cooperates. I really like fishing Insula but at 70 years old, that portage between Hudson and Insula is becoming a challenge for just the two of us.

I do not have a fish finder, but it might be a good idea to bring a finder to Jordan. I'm one of those who tried and failed in Jordan. The northern portion has grass beds, so I'd look there first. If I were to go to Jordan again, I'd take along the pdf contour map of the lake from the MN-DNR lake finder.

One potential problem with Jordan: finding an open site. I was ok in late June, however.

You can catch walleye from the bank of the southern-most campsite there around dusk. All you can possibly eat.

I think Jordan is doable but my one experience there was an early trip on which we marked a ton of fish and caught none. In Jordan's defense, it was the year when ice went out happened about 48 hours before we got there!

I think the fish are there but I've not had the success.

Good luck.

Thanks for the insight. We plan to get there in late July so ice out shouldn't give us problems. I saw that there were only 3 sites on the lake so finding an open campsite might be a problem but the portage into Ima is short and Ima has a bunch of sites. I'm hoping to be there mid day which might help.

On other lakes at that time of year we've done reasonably well trolling crankbaits near shore in 6 to 15 feet. Hoping that tactic will work on Jordan too.
