Fishing Guide on the Ely side?

We've done a guided trip with Mike Berg (gunflint side, which was a success).

We (2 ppl) would like to find a walleye guide on the ely side, and walleye fish the day before we put into the bwca.

Any personal recommendations?

Look up Ely Fishing Guide Co. They’re the best in town. Jim the Fish Guy too. Great guy.

I used a guy named Paul a lot of years ago (20+ ?). Last I knew he was working at Vosburg Custom Cabins on Moose Lake. Not sure if he is still guiding or not, but he would put us on fish on Basswood back in the day.

If you are OK with fishing outside the BWCA before you put in, I highly recommend Dave Schueck at Sunset Glow Guide Service. He guides on Lake Vermilion among other lakes. Great guy!

Yes, we are fine with fishing outside the BW. Since we are making the trip, we figure it's worth it to hit up some of the best walleye area around.

I know most of the guides in the area. That being said I would recommend Steve Foss out of Ely. Book early he fills up.

Try to find one that needs help carrying all their Lithium Batteries for Fish Flashers, Aqua Vu & Go Pro cameras. They will most likely give you a break on the price...as long as you don't mind being on YouTube.
